Conservation

I think there is no argument that almost all people love nature.  Whether you’re a hunter or a fisherman, someone just going for a walk, or you just happen to look up and see a goose flying overhead.  Nature has this way of infiltrating our lives in small ways. Instilling or evoking these deep emotions inside of us. You don’t have to be a hunter or a fisherman to share a story about how you saw a deer on your way home from work with your family.  I think it’s instinctual that most people love nature and the wildlife that inhabits it. I know I sure as hell do. I know though that I am definitely not alone in having the feeling that I need to do more. Specifically do more to protect, preserve, and perpetuate the public lands and wildlife that this beautiful country has to offer.

A conservationist is “A person who advocates or acts for the protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife.” Being a hunter and a fisherman I know the basics of being a conservationist. I chose to buy a hunting and fishing license, a duck stamp, and do little things in my everyday life to help out like pick up trash.  For a while now I have wanted to start playing a more influential role in being a conservationist. Besides giving my dollars and volunteering my time, I wanted to inform people what they could do as well. I find many hunters and fisherman, as well as people who are not are uninformed about what they could do to protect, preserve, and perpetuate the environment and its wildlife.

Since I myself am a broke college kid I don’t have much money to contribute to conservation.  However I do have time to help contribute to conservation. In this section of my blog I wanted to take this opportunity to share ways that you could partake in conservation either with your time or monetarily.  In doing all of this I know that I am going to be just one link in this giant chain. However, I hope in the end that this chain does something remarkable in order to help conservation.
